GDPR: General Data Protection Regulation

As a Europe-based organization, Genially is fully compliant with GDPR – the world’s strongest regulations on the handling of personal data.

 

Even if you’re outside Europe, we store and process your data in line with this stringent framework. This applies to every Genially user, with any account (free and premium).

Genially stores its data inside the European Economic Area, in Ireland. We do not usually carry out any international data transfers. 

 

If a third-party service provider is based outside the EEA, they are required to ensure that any international transfers are made on the basis of EU Commission-approved standard contractual clauses (SCCs) or the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

Genially is compliant with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), US federal legislation governing the data privacy of students.

 

We are certified with the iKeepSafe's Children's Online Privacy Protection Safe Harbor seal.

As part of these regulations, we request authorization from a parent or guardian before minors under 13 years of age in the US can use the tool. Additional safeguards include restrictions on Google indexing, publishing on third-party sites, and inserting external content.

Secure Infrastructure

Genially’s infrastructure is hosted by Amazon Web Services (AWS), acknowledged to be the most secure cloud platform in the world.

 

Data is processed and stored in the AWS Data Center in Ireland, and therefore subject to European GDPR regulations.

 

AWS architecture guarantees the protection of confidentiality and data sovereignty, ensuring that Genially has complete physical and network security. Read more about AWS services.

How we safeguard your data and privacy

You’re in control

Genially offers multiple publishing settings and access controls including the option to add a password. If you want to say goodbye, it’s easy to delete your account.

Secure backups

We back up our data every day so your designs are always secure and accessible. When you delete a genially, you can retrieve it from Trash within 30 days.

Data retention

We don’t keep any information we don’t need and data is deleted when the legal time limit expires. You can withdraw consent to us processing your data, at any time.

Encryption

We use encryption to keep your designs safe. Data is encrypted with TLS 1.2 or higher in transit, and encrypted at rest with AES-256 bits.

K12 deletion policy

If a user under the age of 18 remains inactive on Genially for one year, all of the user's personal information will be permanently deleted.

Monitoring

Our team of security engineers run regular vulnerability scans and application testing to detect any anomalous behavior.
